Obituary for Virginia Post

Virginia (Ginnie) Post passed away on October 28th three days before her 101st birthday. Survived by daughter Susan Rech; sons, Richard E. (Randy) and Tom (Jennifer); grandchildren, Kristi (Juan Rivera), Bryan (Gretchen), Alan (Emily), Lauren (Carter Fose), Taylor, Amy, and Julia; and great grandchildren, Hunter, Verity, Riley, and Willa. Preceded in death by her husband of over 73 years “Dick” (Richard L.), son Mike (Deb), son-in-law Bruce Rech MD, and daughter-in-law Sandy (Richard E.). Ginnie was born and raised in Minneapolis. She met Dick on a blind date and Dick immediately knew she was the one. They were married in 1943 which marked the beginning of our family. Mom guided, loved, and nurtured us. She was a quiet but powerful force that made all things work. We will always remember our time together, especially at the family home on Spider Lake WI where Mom taught multiple generations how to play cards, enjoy each other’s company, and appreciate the gifts of nature. Ginnie’s heart was big enough to share beyond her immediate family. As her children grew and married, their spouses and in-laws were unconditionally accepted as family. She and Dick developed many lasting friendships that over time have also become family. We mourn the passing of Ginnie, and her memory will live in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on December 4, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Colonial Church, 6200 Colonial Way, Edina. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Colonial Church are preferred.
