Obituary for Ronald Lee "Ron" Swain

Ronald Lee Swain, known to most as Ron, passed away on Oct 22, 2023, at the age of 81 in Excelsior, MN. Born on Dec 2, 1941, in Omaha, NE, Ron was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and stepfather. Ron was the kindest person anyone was likely ever to meet. He had a successful career as the owner of a prosperous home-textile sales agency, where he became known as the "Towel King" and the "God of All Terry (G.O.A.T.)" for his exceptional abilities in selling towels to major retailers. Ron's success in business did not overshadow his warmth and compassion. He touched the lives of many with his good-hearted nature and genuine care for others. He will be remembered as a person who went above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of those around him. In his personal life, Ron cherished his family dearly. He is survived by his loving wife Marty; son Eric of Bedford, ENG; grandchildren Aidan of Utrecht, NLD, Olivia of London, and Dylan of St Andrews, SCT; stepson Nick Heiberg (Tracy) of St Louis Park; stepdaughter Carrie Goodroad (Chad) and stepgranddaughter Nina of St Paul; brother Tom of Omaha; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marjorie Swain; wife Sue; son Jason; and sister Carol Taylor. Ron's interests were varied, but he particularly loved playing golf, spending time with friends, and enjoying good food and wine. He found great pleasure in being with the people he cared about. In matters of faith, Ron found solace and community at Eden Prairie Presbyterian Church (now Prairie Community Church) and the Congregational Church of Excelsior. A memorial service will be held this Friday, Oct 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Prairie Community Church, 9145 Eden Prairie Rd, Eden Prairie, MN 55347, followed by a lunch reception at Hazeltine National Golf Club, Chaska. The service will be live-streamed as well as archived on the church website. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Huber Funeral Home, Excelsior. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Prairie Community Church, as Ron held a deep appreciation for the church and its mission. Ron will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His selflessness, success in so many aspects of life, and unwavering love for his family and friends will forever be cherished. May his memory be a blessing to us all.
