Robert John Bittle of Spring Park, MN, born to Elsie & Maynard Bittle of Greene IA, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on December 28, 2022. The family later moved to Mt. Pleasant where he and his 3 brothers were raised. Bob served in the Army during the Korean War before attending Iowa Weslyan College in Mt. Pleasant . Bob met his loving wife Doris in college and the two were married in 1957. After graduating Bob started his career with General Mills in Chicago. He was transferred to General Mills headquarters in Minneapolis in 1969. Bob and Doris raised their family of five children in Mound Minnesota and have resided in spring Park for the last four years. He was active in his community as a member of Bethel United Methodist church, the Lions club, school board, a founding member of Boy Scout troop 569 in1969 which he participated in for more than 40 years. The most important aspect of his life was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He is preceeded in death by his father Maynard, mother Elsie, brothers Maynard jr, Richard, Harold, and son Robert. Survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Doris, daughters Teresa Ziesmer, Sharon (Willy) Gruette, son John (Eileen) Bittle, daughter Barbara (William) Schilling , grandsons David Ziesmer, Brian (Kim) Ziesmer, Charley (Aja) Ziesmer, Evan Bittle, Robert Bittle, great grandchildren Jackson Ziesmer, Ellie Ziesmer and baby Ziesmer of Brian and Kim Ziesmer. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday at Bethel United Methodist Church, 2116 Commerce Blvd. Mound, with visitation starting at 10 AM. Interment Mound Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be to Bethel UMC.
