Obituary for Nicole Marshall "Charlene" Mata (Marshall)

On January 24, 2023, Nicole Marshall Mata, loving and devoted wife and mother of three beautiful daughters, passed away at the age of 50.

Nicole was born February 4, 1972, in Bronx, New York, to Donald Marshall and Pauline Pitter-Marshall. Nicole also lived in Ontario and British Columbia, Canada and then to Orlando, Florida, where she attended elementary, middle and high schools. After graduating with honors, she furthered her education at University of Florida, Gainsville, majoring in Nursing. She then worked in various departments at the Orlando Regional Hospital (now Orlando Health). Always in search of adventure and further learning, Nicole decided to be a traveling nurse, which took her to several states including Vermont, Michigan, Texas and Minnesota. She loved it all.

After meeting Marcus in Texas, they moved to Minnesota, got married and settled here to raise their family. She continued her nursing career with Methodist Hospital - first in Cardiac Care and then to Labor and Delivery where she found her niche and the awesome extended family of friends that God had planned for her. Nicole was a passionate Labor and Delivery and charge nurse. She took great pride in caring for her patients, in training and mentoring new or younger colleagues, and in supporting the doctors and mid-wives - all for the success of her department.

Nikki, as we fondly called her, had a loving and infectious personality. She liked the finer things in life and was an extremely loyal friend. She had never met a stranger. She was a strong, positive and courageous women-a warrior to the end. She is so loved and has left a lasting legacy for all of us-of love, courage, friendship and strength. Her spark and radiance will be missed.

Nicole is preceded in death by her father. Survived by her loving husband Marcus; daughters, Alexa, Gabrielle and Avery; mother Pauling Marshall, brother Bradley Marshall (Chandra); hius three children Alex, Xavier, Layla; Aunt Beryl Spence; in-laws Jose and Rosalinda Mata; Sonya and children Anthony and Angelina Viola; and a host of other loving relatives and friends in Jamica, United Kingdom, Canada and throughout the USA.

Dearest Nicole, we loved you well, but Jesus loved you best. May your soul rest in eternal peace.
