Millie Aydt, age 88, of Chanhassen, passed away at home on October 4, 2020. She was born on June 1, 1932 in St. Michael. She worked for the Noerenberg family at their home in Orono as a cook and worked at Rosenblatt clothing manufacturer in Minneapolis sewing men’s sport coats before marrying Wilbur on October 27, 1962. They were blessed with four girls. She was a faithful member of St. Hubert Catholic Community. She was active in The American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to entertain, play cards, travel, collect recipes and was well known for her delicious food and desserts.
She opened Millie’s Deli in 1986. She eventually sold the business to spend time with family. She continued to help at the deli and also enjoyed making Christmas cookie trays. She consolidated all her favorite recipes into a cookbook, which has been enjoyed by many, especially her daughters.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren, they brought so much joy to her life.
Survived by husband, Wilbur of 58 years of marriage; daughters Ann (Robert) Marty, Sandy (Mark) Ittel, Janice (Jason) Lenz and Jean (Edward) Hagerty; grandchildren Ben, Allison and Paige Marty, Molly Ittel, Jack, Jenna and Julia Lenz, Austin and Ava Hagerty; sister LaVerne Nieman and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents Leo and Lillian Barthel, brother Wallace (Jeanette) Barthel, sister Janet (Donald) Berning and brother-in-law Gordon Nieman.
.Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Tuesday (10/13) at St. Hubert Catholic Community, 8201 Main Street, Chanhassen. Visitation 5-7 PM Monday at Huber Funeral Home, 13694 Glory Lane, Eden Prairie. Private family interment.
