Obituary for Michael John Thielges

Michael John Thielges, passed away unexpectedly on 1-29-23 at his EP residence. Mike is survived by his wife Irene; sisters Theresa (Jeff), Betty (Vern) and Dorothy; brother-in-law John van Hook; sisters-in-law Kathleen Kelly and Mary Peters; grandson Jarratt Enos (Nicole) and Jarratt’s dad Greg Enos (Jory); also many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Peter and Mary, sisters Marcia and Mary, brothers Jim and Chuck; and Mike’s step-daughter Molly Niccum Enos.
Mike was born 12-20-1950 in IL but grew up in MN. He attended St. Bart’s in Wayzata for 8 years where he first met Irene. He graduated from Wayzata High School and then joined the Army and served his country. He was with the Minneapolis Rugby Club and even played rugby in England. He spent many years in the liquor industry and then in hardware at Ace in Chan. This was a perfect fit for Mike as he knew a little bit about everything.
Mike died at home laying comfortably on the bed watching football with his loving dog Dixie by his side. He was the “best grandpa ever” to Molly’s son Jarratt.
