Pietuch, Mary “Pat” age 95, passed away peacefully July 19,2023. She was preceded in death by her husband John of 67 years, parents Thomas Aide and Laura Hines Muldowney, siblings Margaret, Cyril, John, Glenn, Anna Marie, Toby, and infant son William.
Pat will be lovingly remembered by her children, Peggy (David) Schultz, Thomas, Mary (Jay) Pfeffer; grandchildren, Thomas, James, Matthew Schultz, and Elizabeth (Alex) Rice; Jack and Toby Pfeffer; great-granddaughter, Margaret Rice and an array of nieces and nephews.
Pat was born November 11, 1927, in Highland, Wisconsin and graduated valedictorian from her high school class in 1945. She worked in the accounting department of the Schlitz Brewing Co. in Milwaukee where she met the love of her life John Pietuch who was serving in the military. They were married November 13, 1954, and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1961 where they resided for 60 years. When her youngest started school, Pat began college and earned a degree in Nursing, subsequently working at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital as a charge nurse. Pat was most proud of her job as mother, and adored spending time with her family. She was also proud of her Irish Catholic heritage. Throughout her life, she remained an active member and graciously volunteered her time to her parish, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Scottsdale. She had a keen sense of adventure and curiosity, never missing the opportunity to travel, play bridge or poker, attend theater, celebrate and try new things. Pat was a constant source of love and joy to all who knew her and baked thousands of her world-famous chocolate chip cookies. She spent her final years living with her daughter Peg and family in Shorewood, Minnesota. She was the beloved “Grandma” to everyone and active until the last. She will be deeply missed, and may she rest in eternal peace knowing that her spirit will live on in all who loved her.
A funeral mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Excelsior, MN on Friday August 4th at 11:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior and luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John’s Church, Excelsior or Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
