Obituary for Marie Anne Kmetz (Kmetz)
Kmetz, Marie Anne.
April 26, 1934 – November 15, 2022.
Marie Anne Kmetz was born April 26, 1934 to Andrew and Susan (Sanko) Kmetz, and was the eldest of their three children. She was proud of her Slovak heritage. Part of her childhood was spent in a primarily Slovak community in Moquah, Wisconsin, from where she had many fond memories of playing by the creek, walking the railroad tracks and going to school at the one-room schoolhouse. As an adult she had a career as a bookkeeper with Northwestern Bell, but as she always said, when they offered early retirement she “didn’t let the door hit me on the way out!” In later years she was a caregiver at home for both her mother and her brother.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Susan, her brother Bill and her brother-in-law Dan Schuette. She is survived by her sister Rose Schuette, nephew Tom (Mary) Schuette, niece Laura (Greg) Solarz and grand-niece Kristin Oney. A private graveside service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Shorewood, MN.
