LuJean was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many and was proud to be born into and then married into two large, extended families with an almost innumerable amounts of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nephews and nieces. She was a dedicated Den-mother and volunteer who drove her children (and carpooled many neighbors’ kids) to their sports, music lessons, Boy Scouts, confirmation classes, and a host of other activities to ensure they became good, well-rounded people. LuJean loved singing, enjoyed of music of all kinds, and when dancing with her husband Pete she would almost seem to fly. LuJean enjoyed a reputation as a great cook, a talented baker, a proud lefse maker and a fierce player of card games amongst friends and family. A resident of Eden Prairie and member of Immanuel Lutheran church for fifty years, LuJean was also a good neighbor to many friends in Sterling Field & Timber Lakes neighborhoods. Born in 1946 in Windom, Cottonwood County, Minnesota to Donald & Helen Eichner of Westbrook, MN. LuJean graduated Benson High School in 1964, then Fairview Nursing School in 1967, and finally a Bachelor of Science 1988. LuJean had a long and esteemed Nursing career as an Operating Room RN at Fairview Southdale Hospital for 23 years before she became an OR Nurse Manager at Fairview Southdale. She also worked at the Fairview Riverview campus as a manager and then as OR Nurse Manager for Fairview University after the merger with the U of M hospital. As the manager of procedural services at Saint Francis Hospital, she helped oversee the expansion of St. Francis’ surgery department. LuJean enjoyed her work as an educator in her profession and served in leadership positions including serving as Board member and President of the Twin Cities chapter of Association of Perioperative Nurses. She retired at 63 to be a full-time caregiver to her grandson Jacob, for his first year of life. LuJean was a beautiful person inside and out, with a tremendous smile and laughter. We will miss her greatly. Memorial service 11 AM Saturday September 19, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 16515 Luther Way, Eden Prairie, MN 55346, with visitation starting at 10 AM.
