Obituary for Lorinne Luella Mikelson (Peterson)
Lorinne Luella (Peterson) Mikelson was born on March 28, 1933 to Reuben and Ella Peterson in
Clarkfield, MN. She died on September 5, 2023 at Flagstone Long Term Care Residence in Eden Prairie.
Lorinne attended a one room country school from 1st through 6th grades. She then attended Clarkfield
High School, graduating in 1951. After high school she moved to Minneapolis to work for Sears Roebuck
Co.
In 1952, Lorinne married Richard Mikelson whom she met at Clarkfield High School. They were blessed
with three daughters, Roxanne, Jamie and Kari. They moved to Eden Prairie, MN in June of 1962 where
they had fun adventures with friends, Sterling Field neighbors and family. She was a loving mother,
thoughtful, and always present.
Lorinne worked at Eden Prairie Middle School for several years before returning to work for Sears
Roebuck in the accounting department. She retired in 1997. She maintained close friendships with coworkers for the rest of her life.
Richard died unexpectedly in January 1988. Lorinne moved to a townhome in 1989 where she lived for
15 years before moving to Valley View Co-op in 2004. During this time, she created community with old
and new neighbors, participated in the Eden Prairie Women’s Historical Club and was a devoted member
of her Red Hats Women’s Club. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church for over 60 years,
singing in the choir for 40 years.
Lorinne was known for her love of flowers, reading, music and theatre. She enjoyed baking cookies and
bars, often referred to by her family as the Bar Queen. Some of her grandchildren carry on her legacy of
preparing Swedish Meatballs every Christmas. Lorinne was Mother to three daughters, Grandma to 8
grandchildren and Great Grammy to 11 great grandchildren. Lorinne will be remembered as a loving
wife, mother and grandmother; devoted and loyal to her many lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Ella Peterson; her three siblings, Ariel Steen,
Galen Peterson; and Dale Peterson; her husband Richard Mikelson, her son in law Daniel Kloskowski, her
granddaughter Heather (Kloskowski) Lindholm and infant great grandson Oliver Kloskowski. Lorinne is
survived by her daughters Roxanne Kloskowski, Jamie (Mike) Manning and Kari (Daniel) Gabrielson,
grandchildren Luke (Megan) Kloskowski, Matthew (Jamie) Kloskowski, Jake Lindholm, Katie (Charlie)
Eggert, Benjamin (Allison) Manning, Timothy (Courtney) Manning, Thomas (Shannon) Gabrielson and
Amy (Darrin) Olmscheid, and great grandchildren Nolan, Tucker, Zoe, Magnus, Lincoln, William, Jack,
Anne, Theodore, Edison and Von.
A Memorial Service is planned for September 19th, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 16515 Luther
Way, Eden Prairie. Visitation at 10:00 am; Memorial Service at 11:00 am with a light luncheon to follow.
