Obituary for Joy Lee Anderson (Johnson)

Anderson, Joy Lee, 88, of Mound, MN passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at The Glenn Memory Care in Buffalo, MN with family at her bedside. Joy was born on September 20, 1934, to Ross and Bernice Johnson in Chicago, IL. She moved to Mound after marrying Jules Illies. They were divorced in 1968 and she married Douglas Anderson in 1975. She held various office jobs until she found her true calling later in life as a nanny to many children, some of whom were still in contact with Joy until her final days. Joy was an avid reader and follower of politics until dementia made its claim on her mind. In August 2o22 she moved into The Glenn Memory Care in Buffalo, and despite her dementia, was a favorite among the staff. She is survived by husband Douglas, children Murray Illies of Mound, MN, Todd Illies of Chaska, MN, Ami Fischer of Winsted, MN, Shari Michels of Osage, IA; nine grandchildren, Evan and Briana Illies, Cory and Christian Illies, Victoria Beckman, Jessica Werness and Jillian Heidebrink, and Natalie Bauer ten great grandchildren and many other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Donald, daughter Julie Barrack and grandson Ryan Barrack. Memorial service 11 AM Wednesday January 4, 2023 at Huber Funeral Home, 1801 Commerce Blvd. Mound, with visitation starting at 10 AM.
