John Clark Paulsen's life on earth ended at 90 years of age on April 13, 2023, in Minneapolis (born April 17,1932, in Evanston, IL), As a devout Christian, his life was guided always in behaviors and beliefs by Biblical principals. His formal education culminated with a baccalaurate degree from Carroll University, and his work career spanned years using his business education knowledge at Bank Methods Company in Chicago, IL, an endeavor started by his father and with whom he worked. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from August 25,1956 to July 31,1956, believing in the God inspired foundations of the USA and the need for the defense of freedom. He loved music and classical movies , with his contribution and enjoyment using his beloved violin.
He leaves behind the following celebrants and benefactors of his life: brother, Richard (Darlene) Paulsen; sister, Mary Zappe; nephews, Erik Paulsen, Ken (Martha) Zappe, Tom (Linda) Zappe; nieces, Alisa (Jim) Paulsen Van De Ryt, Cara Paulsen, Kathy (Roger) Christensen, Judy (John) Moore; great nephews, Austin Stewart, Jacob Stewart, Tyler Stewart, Connor Stewart, Landen Van De Ryt; Ryan Christensen, Erik Christensen, Jack (Amber) Moore, Bobby Moore, Brian Zappe, Aaron (Kelly) Zellmer; great nieces, Kaitlyn (Cassio) Christensen-Lima, Kalli Christensen, Bridget (Josh) Van Lith, Kristy Zellmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thor Oliver Paulsen and Ruth Harriet Paulsen, and brother-in-law, Edward (Bill) Zappe.
Visitation will be 2-5 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023, and a memorial service will begin at 3:00, at Excelsior Chapel, 520 Second Street, Excelsior, MN.
Military graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900Gross Point Rd., Skokie, IL. John Haben Funeral Home & Crematory,8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie, IL is in charge of arrangements.
