Hoffer, John Paul Born January 12, 1949 in Minneapolis, MN. Died December 16th, 2020 in Eden Prairie, MN at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 5 days. Preceded in Death by Mother Anne Hoffer; Father John E. Hoffer; Brother Marty Hoffer; Mother in Law Anita Espinel; Father in Law Albert J. Espinel; Brothers in Law Richard Espinel, Albert D. Espinel, Geoff Simpson, Jack Gruidl and Al Thoreson. Survived by Spouse Linda Hoffer; Children John A. Hoffer(Julie), Mark Hoffer (Genevieve), Stephen Hoffer, Laura LaFontaine (David); Grandchildren Olivia Hoffer, Gage Hoffer, Sophia Hoffer, Maggie Hoffer, Thomas Hoffer, Hannah LaFontaine and Michael LaFontaine; Siblings Rose Gruidl, Don Hoffer, Nancy Norris, Mike Hoffer, Tom Hoffer, Julie Bensen, Paula Thoreson; Siblings in Law Barbara Christianson (Mark), Mary Simpson, Mikey Espinel (Ruth), Julia Bakos (Janos) and Tricia Espinel. John loved life, his family deeply and God. He was a devout Catholic and a Shepard of the word. He was lovingly referred to as St. John by many. He was an amazing father, husband, Papa, gardener, ping pong player, photographer, tennis player, coach, Mustang aficionado, softball player, canoer, police officer, Veteran, LEGO builder, encourager, eternal optimist (except for sports and he was a pessimist), reader, lover of grapefruit and salads and taken from us too soon. We know he is in a better place as God needed him for a special assignment. He only takes the best for that. We love him dearly and will cherish our memories forever. Memorial service Sunday, December 20th at 6:00pm at Huber Funeral Home Chapel in Eden Prairie, MN by invitation only. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, December 21st at 11:00am at St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Chanhassen, MN with Father Rolf Tollefson. The funeral will have a live stream available at sthubert.org. Interment to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. Due to COVID social distancing will be observed and masks are required.
