Obituary for James Thomas Maurer

James “Jim” Maurer, age 66, of Carver and longtime resident of Eden Prairie passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 12, 2022.
Jim followed in his father’s footsteps going into HVAC, which he continued for over 40 years. He remained a member of the Pipefitters Local 539 for over 45 years.
Jim was a devoted father and his greatest joy in life were his two daughters. He was their pillar. He spent countless hours of his life at the soccer field and never missed an event that was important to his girls. In their adult life, his help and guidance never waned as he became their best friend.
He was enthused to gain two son-in laws that he considered proud sons and found every opportunity to pass along his knowledge and advice.
Jim’s love of family expanded when his grandsons entered his life. He adored spending time attending every milestone, sports game and gathering.
He spent his well-earned retirement as a volunteer at Wings of the North, quality time with family, lunch with good friends and continued to jump at the chance to lend a helping hand to anyone in his life.
He will be remembered for his lively sense of humor, enthusiastic storytelling, desire to be of service to others and generous spirit.
Proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph & Merle Maurer and older sister, Mary Jo Thurston.
Survived by his daughters Melissa (Armando) Sanchez and Allison (Jeff Baker) Maurer and cherished grandsons Saalim, Adrian & Nicolas.
