Obituary for Geoffrey Peck "Geoff" Mayo

Mayo, Geoffrey Peck, age 70 of Chanhassen, was born on October 8, 1951 in Kane, PA, & passed away on September 5, 2022 after a courageous battle with amyloidosis & cancer, surrounded by his loving family.

Geoff moved to Minnetonka, MN when he was 13 years old – a place he grew to love so dearly that he never left! He graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1969 and then from the University of MN.

In 1986 Geoff married his longtime friend Marcia. Their love was one of a kind & one most people don’t get a chance to experience. Together they raised 5 children, to whom he was devoted. One of his proudest accomplishments was his 38 years of sobriety.

Through the years Geoff held an eclectic variety of jobs, including egg & paper routes, working on a tomato farm & in a commercial bakery, & as a dog catcher through his college years. He then ventured into the world of business with Colgate/Palmolive, Roll Tank Co, & UHF. He became an owner at Lintex, founded a motorcycle business, Bullseye Bikes, worked at Encompass & ADI, then was diagnosed with cardiac amyloidosis.

Geoff loved…treats! But also, music, drumming & being in a band, riding motorcycles, spending time at the cabin, golfing, traveling, & most of all loving his family & friends. He treasured his many friends & the countless memories & endless love they provided to him & his family.

Preceded in death by parents Kenneth & Virginia Mayo, & sister Melissa Sorman. Survived by his sister Michelle Hellie (Chris), brother-in-law Steven Sorman, his loving wife Marcia, children Kelly (Amie), Kayla Kuvaas (Erik), Marlee, Meredith Schwab (Dan), Christian, & 7 beloved grandchildren (McCullen, Gradyn, Grace, Eloise, Silas, Geoffrey, and Zeke).

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 16, at Lafayette Club 2800 Northview Road, Minnetonka Beach, MN from 1-4pm with a memorial service at 1:30pm, preceded by a private interment at Lakewood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions for a memorial tree in Geoff’s honor at the MN Landscape arboretum are welcome. Give online or mail a check to: Tributes, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum PO Box 860647, Minneapolis, MN 55486-0647.
