Obituary for Elaine Richmond Dunn (Richmond)

Dunn, Elaine R. age 98 of Onalaska, Wisconsin; previously residing in Excelsior, Minnesota passed away at her home on July 27th. Preceded in death by her loving husband Harry Dunn, her parents, LeVoy and Floy (Zeigler) Richmond and sister Arlene Bernardini. Survived by children Rev. Kevin (Barbara) Dunn of Sartell, Minnesota, Kelly (Loretta) Dunn of Onalaska. Also survived by grandchildren Jayme (Nate) Westling, Joel (Emily) Dunn, Janelle (David) Daniel, Trevor Dunn, Natalie (Joshua) Garrison; and great- grandchildren, Austin Westling, Alyssa Westling, Harry Dunn, Betsy Dunn, Linus Dunn, Claire Daniel, Vanessa Daniel, Emmett Daniel, Thea Garrison, and Cora Garrison; and her nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends. Elaine was born in Taylorville, Illinois and was a graduate of Taylorville High School, Whitworth College and Drake University. During her youth, she and her family enjoyed showing ponies at county, state and national horse shows. In high school she was an excellent student, the drum majorette in the band and was also chosen as its May Queen. In college she was selected as Miss Whitworth. She married Harry on January 10, 1948. After college she worked at the YWCA in Des Moines, Iowa and then worked in the office of Naugle-Leck, Inc in Minneapolis for many years while raising her two boys. Elaine loved growing roses, traveling, dancing, playing bridge and collecting antiques. She and Harry were long time members of the Congregational Church of Excelsior and the Minnetonka Country Club. She also was active in the Mi-Ni-Tan-Ka Chapter of Questers and the Lake Minnetonka Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Elaine enjoyed the time she spent with family and friends and her pleasant disposition will be missed by all. Funeral Service Thursday, August 3rd at 11 am at the Congregational Church of Excelsior, 471 3rd Street with visitation one hour prior to the service. A lunch will follow the service. Private family interment. Memorials preferred to the Congregational Church of Excelsior or Questers International.
