Obituary for Donna Jean Farmer (Williams)

Farmer, Donna Jean, age 92, resident of Lake Minnetonka Shores in Spring Park, passed away in the protective arms of her husband of 72 years, the love of her life, Gordy. Donna was born in Omaha, NE. Her family later moved to Minneapolis. She graduated from Southwest High School where she met Gordy. They fell in love and married on April 30, 1949 after he returned from serving in the Air Force during WWII. They started their family while living in South Minneapolis, then later moved to Bloomington. As a stay-at-home Mother of five children, even with the challenges that came with that, Donna made their home a cozy refuge with her endless patience and love. When her youngest reached school age she went to work at First Southdale Bank, first as a teller and later as a Personal Banker until her retirement. In 1975 they moved to Mound to live on Lake Minnetonka where they enjoyed the lake life for many years before retiring to Chaska. Over the years she cheered on her family’s dance recitals, hockey games, softball games and any other event her family was participating in. Her other interests included reading magazines and comics, a passion for old movies and movie stars, music and especially dancing. Her amazing drawings highlighted her many artistic abilities. She had a lifelong love of animals, especially her cats. She had the good fortune to travel to places such as Hawaii, London and one of her favorites, Dollywood to mention a few. She loved puzzles, crafts, ceramics, bingo and all the activities shared with her friends and the staff at the Gables where she lived for the last years of her life. All those who had the pleasure of knowing her were captivated by her natural beauty, bubbly personality, quick wit, sweet smile and her unconditional love. As a strong woman of faith she was devoted to her church, her husband, her family and her friends which was an inspiration to us all. She is now in the arms of her Jesus where she waits for us.

Proceeded in death by her parents, Richard and Peggy Williams, sister Margaret, brothers Richard and Robert, grandson Steve Nelson.

Survived by loving husband, Gordy.
