Obituary for Darla Jean Parrague (Johnson)

Darla Jean (Johnson) Parrague, age 66, of Mound passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on August 10th, 2022. Preceded in death by her parents, George & Harriet (Maxwell) Johnson and brother, David Johnson. Survived by children, Emily (James) Stodola, Natalie (Jeremy) Gonzalez, Ian (Marissa) Parrague; sisters, Deborah Johnson, Dianne (Marcy) Johnson; sister-in-law, Debra Johnson; grandchildren, Gavin, Luciana & Scarlett; step-grandchild, Daeshawna Gonzalez and step-great grandchildren, Hazel Mae & Xavier; nephews, Nathanial & Ryan; niece, Athena and many other relatives and friends.

Born in 1956 and raised in Coon Rapids, MN, Darla was the youngest of George and Harriett Johnson's four children. She graduated in 1974 from Anoka High School where she played basketball, volleyball, and threw discus on the track team. Darla loved working as a lifeguard at Crooked Lake, where she lived with her parents and siblings: David, Debbie, and Dianne. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1978 with a degree in Criminal Justice. She moved back to Minnesota and lived in Edina where she raised her three children: Emily, Natalie, and Ian. Darla enjoyed her work in the Edina Public School District as a paraprofessional working with children with special needs. She decided to go back to school, earning her masters in Marriage & Family Therapy from Adler University in 2012. She has worked the last five years in her dream job counseling middle and high school age students in the Watertown-Mayer School District through Carver County. Darla found the house she adored in Mound, MN and has lived there for the past two years. She enjoyed gardening, going to sports games, and every type of board and card game imaginable. A great animal lover, she had dogs and cats throughout her whole life. Darla loved her friends fiercely, brought a smile to the face of everyone she met, and enjoyed grabbing a margarita whenever the opportunity presented itself. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she gave them her whole heart. She will be greatly missed.

Celebration of Life on Monday, August 22, 2022, 12 PM with time of sharing starting at 11 AM, (ENTER AT DOOR #2), all at Grace Church, 9301 Eden Prairie, Eden Prairie, MN 55347. Reception immediately following at church.

For the celebration of Life, Darla had requested wearing something purple.
