Clara M. Dolan, (Kahnke), age 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22nd. Clara was married
to John (Jack) Dolan, who predeceased her in 2007. Jack and Clara were long-time residents of
Minnetonka, MN, and Rio Verde, AZ.
Clara was born April 14, 1929, and grew up just outside of Redwood Falls, MN. She was the eighth
of 9 children of Ambrose and Clara Kahnke, but the last of her siblings to pass. She graduated from
Mankato Teachers College and taught for several years before marrying Jack in 1951. Together, they had
5 children: Dean Dolan; Steve (deceased 2012) (Nancy Hanily) Dolan; Mary (Dan) Thue; Teresa Dolan;
and Ann (Mark) Jensen. Clara is survived by 9 grandchildren (Meghan, Sean (Andrea), Erik (Megan), Jimmy, Brian, Aaron,
Allison, Jack, and Dylan) and 2 great-grandchildren (Ren and Aya). She was a loving matriarch of her
family.
Clara is remembered for her quick wit, ready laughter, positive attitude, and enduring generosity. She
was a long-time supporter of many charitable organizations. Her dedication to helping others was the
hallmark of her life. She enjoyed reading, going to the horse races, painting and golf. She was very
creative, loved to travel and spend time with her family. She lived her life to the fullest.
Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 14th, at 11 a.m. Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church,
13505 Excelsior Blvd. Minnetonka, (952) 935-1432. Visitation to begin at 10 a.m., prior to funeral mass.
Memorials may be made to the Little Hospice of Edina (littlehospice.org) or a charity of the donor’s
choice.
