Obituary for Chell Christopher Luesse
Chell C. Luesse, age 63, died May 31, 2023, at his home in St. Bonifacius, MN. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Robert G. and Mary E. Luesse; and his father- and mother-in law Les and Helen Lassila.
Chell was born in Minneapolis, MN, grew up in the Navarre and Spring Park area, and went to high school in Mound, MN.
He studied HVAC at Dunwoody Institute, and then taught in their HVAC department for 21 years, finishing his career as an Assistant Professor. He received his bachelor’s degree from Stout University, Menomonie, WI, during his time as a teacher at Dunwoody.
Chell loved skiing, traveling, flying, boating, and dancing. He taught skiing for 10 years at Trollhaugen Ski Area in Dresser, WI. He and his wife Amy often went on skiing trips to mountain ski resorts and on other trips around the US. He got a pilot’s license and flew small planes; and for a few years, he kept a vintage speedboat at his childhood home on Lake Minnetonka.
Chell started square dancing in 2009 at Westonka Whirlers Square Dance Club in Mound, MN. He joined 4 generations of his immediate family taking lessons and dancing together as a family. Chell also enjoyed going to the ABC dances at the Mound Gillespie center whenever he could.
Chell is survived by his brother Judd Luesse (Debra); his sisters Margaret Luesse and Jann Luesse (Tessa Scheller); his nieces Sandy Luesse (Bob Sweet) and Kristi Nelson; his nephews Bill Luesse (Doreena), Chris Laurie (Lindsey), Brandon Laurie (Leticia), and Adam Luesse; numerous great nieces and nephews; and Amy Lassila Luesse and the extended Lassila family.
Burial service at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery, 1425 County Rd 110 N, Minnetrista, MN 55364 at 10:00am Sunday June 18, 2023. A Celebration of Life will follow at Gillespie Senior Center, 2590 Commerce Blvd, Mound, MN 55364, from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
