It is with great sadness that the family of David Curtis Aanenson announces his sudden passing on Sunday, August, 19, 2018 at the age of 61 years. Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years Kathy, and his children Kara and Ross. Dave will be fondly remembered by his parents Curtis and Eva Lou Aanenson, his sister Gloria, brother Jim (Kelly), his brother-in-laws Dan (Heidi) Heiland, Mike (Helen) Heiland and John (Tonia) Heiland, his sister-in-laws Jodi (Tom) Cotner, Julie Prenger, his nephews Dan Heiland Jr., Joseph (Lindsey) Prenger, Robbie Cotner, Aaron Aanenson, Dan Cotner, TJ Aanenson and Brian Cotner, his nieces Nicole (Ben) Craig, Cassie Prenger, Carey Prenger and Hayley Aanenson. Dave was preceded in death by father and mother-in-law Bob and Helen Heiland. By profession Dave was an accountant, but his passion was sports. Dave was a Minnetonka Alumni where he lettered in both hockey and baseball. He went to college at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where he continued his baseball career. Dave was a member of the Excelsior Legion team and was one of the original team members of the Minnetonka Millers. Dave continued to share his love of sports by first coaching his kids in softball, baseball and hockey and for the past decade he was an assistant hockey coach for the Minnetonka Warriors. A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM Saturday (8/25) at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Minnetonka Campus, 16032 Minnetonka Blvd, Minnetonka. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Friday at Huber Funeral Home, 520 2nd Street, Excelsior and starting at 1 PM Saturday at the Church. The family is asking that people wear hockey or baseball jerseys to the visitation and service. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for memorial donations made out to the family to be used to provide financial assistance to the families in the Minnetonka Youth Hockey Association.
