Loie Elnor King (Paddock)
Loie Elnor King

Loie passed away December 30th, 2017 while residing at The Lake Minnetonka Shores in Spring Park, MN where she lived for over a decade. She was 95 years old. Loie was born August 23rd, 1922 and raised on a farm in Mound City, Kansas. She was the youngest of seven children born to Tedford and Elsie Paddock.

She married Dean Johnson in 1946 and lived on Casco Point in Minnesota where she raised her three children, Bruce, Linda and Dale Johnson in the 50’s & 60’s. In 1968 she married Claude Harrold King and moved to Denver for ten years. She retired and moved to Wichita, Kansas and then Weslaco, Texas.

She is survived by her three children: Dale (Maryanne) Johnson, of Eden Prairie, MN, Bruce (Sharon) Johnson of Tuscon, AZ and Linda Glandt of Evergreen, CO. She had five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Loie spent many years traveling on her own in her Recreation Vehicle all around the United States and Mexico and had many friends who did the same. They named themselves, “Wild Whacky Women on Wheels”. She loved line dancing, fishing, gardening, playing pool and cards with her many friends. She could frequently be seen passing around her home grown tomatoes to friends or bringing in the catch of the day from the lake. After fishing she would proudly claim, “I caught them, cleaned them, cooked them and ate them all on the same day.” In Grand Junction, Colorado at 80 years of age, she jumped on an Appaloosa and galloped around the arena with great poise and enthusiasm. The next day while leaving town, she said, “I wish I could have had one more ride.”

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was referred to as an amazing person and an inspiration to others. She loved the people around her and shared her love of life and humor with them.
