Obituary for Robert John "Bob" Leinonen

Age 72, of Crystal, MN, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, with family by his side. After an aneurism in 1993, there were many health issues. This past year had been an extra challenge for him. On Oct. 13, 2017 he stated, "It wasn't long enough, but it's been long enough." He was ready for Heaven to be his home. "Bob" was born on July 22, 1945 to John and Emma (Korpela) Leinonen of French Lake, MN. There, he grew up on the family farm with his 4 sisters and attended Myrback School until 7th grade. He graduated from Annandale High in 1963. He served in the Air Force from 1965-1971 and married Barbara Miller of Annandale while he was on leave in 1966. Bob became the father of two daughters during this time and shortly after his service ended with the Air Force; he started a career with Ma-Bell. It was in 1975 when they moved to Crystal, MN. When health became an issue, he was given an early retirement in 1994 from Ma-Bell. Bob found joy in the simple pleasures of family get-togethers, coffee with friends and the great outdoors. Fishing, boating and pheasant hunting were a few of his favorites.
Bob is survived by his daughters: Cassie (Paul) Albinson of Crystal; and Lisa (Dale) McKenzie of St. Louis Park, his grandsons: Hezekiah and Caleb Albinson. His siblings: Gloria (Robert) Dobratz of Hutchinson; Kathy Seiffert of Annandale, Patty Karels of Annandale and Linda Leinonen of Minneapolis. Also, his godchildren, his many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. He will be deeply missed by them all. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers-in-law, Neil Seiffert and Ron Karels. Also, his "ex" and friend Barbie Miller.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, at St. James Lutheran Church in Crystal, MN. (6700 46th Place N, Crystal, MN). Visitation will start at 10:00 AM, service is at 11:00 AM, with a lunch to follow. A spring burial is being planned for this May at Riverside Cemetery in French Lake. MN. Huber Funeral Home is serving the family.
