Doerring (Shields), Barbara F.
age 80, of Excelsior, passed November 23, 2017. Preceded in death by parents, Arnold and Edith Tweed and brothers, Lowell and Roger Tweed. Survived by husband, Pastor Lane Doerring and children, Michael (Kim) Shields, Michelle (Tom) West, Mitchell (Carol) Shields and Melissa (Don) Shields-Nordness, step-children, Beth Ann, Kaj (Jodi), Lief and Kurt Doerring, grandchildren, Adam Shields, Emma and Oliver Shields-Nordness, Charlie West, Spencer, Windom and John Shields and Ashley, Brianna and Blake Shields, step-grandchildren, Blake, Zachary and Grace Doerring, sisters, Marilyn (George) Purser and Elaine Marshall and many other relatives and friends. Barbara was raised in Pequot Lakes, MN and resided in the Lake Minnetonka area since 1961, being active in the Minnetonka schools and Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Excelsior, MN. Her greatest joy was the gift of being a mother and grandmother. She was the most ardent fan at her loved one’s activities. Her love of travel brought her to six continents, but the most special was the people of Tanzania, where she traveled extensively after retirement with her husband. Barbara worked professionally as an office nurse in Wayzata and Excelsior, MN. She was a pharmaceutical representative for 18 years prior to her retirement with an accomplishment of 1996 Top Sales Representative of the Nation with Schering Pharmaceuticals. Memorial service 11 AM Saturday (12/2) at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 301 County Road 19, Excelsior with visitation starting at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Heart Association.
