Obituary for Mary E DeVinney (Holzem)

DeVinney, Mary E. (nee Holzem) age 99 of Mound, passed peacefully on November 4, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leonard and Peter; sisters, Margaret and Irene; and son, Robert. She is survived by sons, Rick (Mary Ellen) DeVinney and Ron (Judy) De Vinney; grandchildren, Molly (Dave) Bastian, Laura (Matthew) Lindvig and Matthew DeVinney; great grandchildren, Christian Bastian and Vincent Lindvig; sister, Elaine; and many loving relatives and friends. Mary was very giving of her time and of herself, which can be seen through her career, her volunteer work, and her hobbies. She was a registered nurse for over 30 years. Mary was a Franciscan Sister for 12 years; she volunteered at the Westonka Food Shelf for 20 years; she was a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, the Our Ladies Council at church, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. She was a woman who loved her family and loved her country. She was a Gold Star Mother. We would like to especially thank the staff at Lake Minnetonka Shores for their exceptional care and support. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, Nov. 8 at Our Lady of the Lake, 2385 Commerce Blvd., Mound, at 11:00am with a visitation one-hour prior. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Our Lady of the Lake, Westonka Food Shelf, or the Gillespie Center.
