Life Story for Mark Harris Saunders
Saunders, Mark Harris age 47, of Golden Valley, MN died unexpectedly during his morning run on Friday, July 21, 2017. He leaves behind his loving wife of 22 years, Stacie Ann [Campbell]; two sons, Calvin Taylor, age 13, and Porter Gale, age 11; parents, John and Jeannie, of Osborn, MO; brother, J. Lyle; and parents-in-law, Truman and Louise Campbell of Faucett, MO. A Celebration of Life will be held at Spirit of Hope UMC in Golden Valley beginning at 6pm, on Thursday, July 27th, where Mark, Stacie, Calvin and Porter are active members.
Mark grew up on a farm in DeKalb County near Osborn, graduating from Stewartsville High School in 1988. Between the ages of 9-18, he was active in 4-H becoming proficient in many projects, most especially 4H Horsemanship. Many years were spent showing horses across the northwestern part of Missouri. He attended the University of Missouri—Columbia, majoring in Art and Journalism, and was a member of Farm House fraternity. Mark and Stacie were married on November 4, 1994 in St. Joseph, MO. They moved to Atlanta, GA where Mark completed the Graphic Design Program at the Portfolio Center in 1996. From there, they moved to Minneapolis, MN where they’ve been with the exception of a 1-year stay in San Jose, CA. Mark spent his career in the field of graphic design and creative direction working for several agencies, and was most recently at Target Corporation as the Creative Director for the In Store Experience.
In addition to his career, Mark was passionate about sharing his design talent with his community, completing multiple pro bono identity system and logo projects for his church, the Missouri Department of Agriculture, and the Brookview Community Center in Golden Valley, MN. He designed the plans for his own home remodel as well as the plans for several others. He enjoyed making spaces more livable.
Music was a lifelong talent that he shared with others. He was blessed with a melodic tenor voice and the ability to play the piano and trombone. He was avid athlete who enjoyed being active with his family – biking, hiking, running, and watching his sons play various sports.
His loss will leave a hole in the hearts of his family and many friends and colleagues. As an organ donor, even in his passing, Mark will continue to share and give to others.
