Harris Cooper, age 79 of Victoria, MN, died peacefully on July 16, 2017. Harris was born on November 17, 1937 in New Jersey. Preceded in death by parents Victor and Dora; siblings Libby Kalland, Ted and Patsy Cooper, Pat Cooper and niece Vicky Mitchell. Survived by wife Darcy and all their children Christine (Alan) Cooper Block, Dr. Theodore Cooper, Nicole (David Znameroski) Cooper, Jason (Tawnya) Dilly, Katie (Robert) Anderson, and Britta (Mychael) Evans. Grandchildren Brooke and Nora Dilly, Libbey, Briggs and Tennley Anderson, and Grant and Weston Evans. Many of loving family members including sisters -in -law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Harris was proud to have served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He received his law degree from St. Louis University. Harris had a passion for the Dairy Queen Franchisees unlike any other. He served the DQ franchisees for the better part of his career- 43 years in all. He was President/CEO of International Dairy Queen for 17 years, Executive Director of the Dairy Queen Operators Association and Cooperative for 20 years and continued his service as consultant and general counsel for the last six years. The difficult decisions Harris made in his various leadership positions helped shape the DQ system into the success that it is today. His greatest passion was spending time with his growing family, cheering on Minnesota sports teams, and traveling the world. He was always planning for his next adventure. He will be remembered for his generous, caring and determined spirit. Celebration service at 11am on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Westwood Community Church, 3121 Westwood Dr. Excelsior with visitation starting at 10am. Memorials in lieu of flowers to the Cooper Family Foundation of MN (1020 Anthony Way, Victoria, MN 55386).
