Born August 8, 1931, the youngest of Ira Lee and Grace’s four children, from Kaufman, TX. He served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954 where he ‘watched the skies’ as a radar operator and was honorably discharged as a Staff-Sargent. He met his wife Marilyn Marcella Muehlberg while in the service and was married February 16, 1952. Ellis and Marilyn had 6 children between 1952 and 1961. He started working for Cargill in the Nutrena Feeds division in 1956 as a bookkeeper and eventually rose to Head of Payroll before retiring after 36 years. After retirement, Ellis & Marilyn opened The Crafter’s Mall in Wayzata, MN before moving it out to Long Lake, MN. When their children were young, Ellis was a Scout Leader in Chanhassen and a little league baseball coach in Excelsior for several years. Ellis highly valued his personal relationship with Jesus and believed it was very important to share the good news of the gospel of Christ. He came to know Jesus through the Billy Graham ministries in 1970. Ellis was very active in church ministries most of his life from driving children to Sunday School on a bus; to his 30 years spent with Prison Fellowship Ministry, sharing the gospel in the Men’s and Women's prisons of Hennepin County. Ellis served the Lord until the end. He “fought the good fight, and kept the faith!” He was preceded to Heaven by his father Ira Lee, his mother Irma Grace, his sisters Joy, Jean, and Charlsie, daughter Lori, and grandson Jeremiah. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, of 65 years; son Michael (Mound, MN); son Jeffrey and wife Dawn (Renville, MN); son Bryan and wife Melia (North Hudson, WI); son Steven and wife Dawn (Mayer, MN); daughter Nancy (Brooklyn Park, MN); 21 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
