Obituary for Anne Jeanne Hedemark (Hermes)

Anne Jeanne Hedemark (Hermes)
Hedemark (Daly) (nee Hermes), Anne Jeanne age 94 of Waconia, MN died peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2017. Anne is survived by her son Pat (Michelle), and grandson Patrick of Victoria, MN; one brother, Frank (Dorothy) Hermes, Hankinson, ND, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Homer Hedemark; 7 siblings and daughter, Nancy Daly.
Anne grew up in Fairmount ND and graduated from high school in 1939 and completed her nursing program in 1943. She obtained her degree in Public Health Nursing from the University of Minnesota in 1951. In 1944 Anne enlisted in the US Army Nurse Corp and was assigned to duty in the Pacific, stationed in Guam. In September, 1951 she began her Public Health Nursing career in Ortonville MN and continued serving Big Stone County as the Public Health Nurse until her retirement in 1977. As a result of her nursing work, she developed many lifelong friends from the surrounding communities in Big Stone County. Following her retirement she continued to volunteer as a nurse in 1984 on the Fort Apache Reservation in White River, New Mexico and in 1988 at the Vanceburg, KY. Christian Community Center.
In 1952, she was married to her first husband, Pat Daly, and they had two children, Patrick and Nancy. On January 1, 1977 Anne remarried Dr. Homer Hedemark, Ortonville. Anne loved bridge, golf, extended family visits, and travel. In 1993 she moved from Ortonville to Bloomington and then to Victoria, MN. Anne spent much time with Pat and his family as well as found multiple bridge groups to play in. While living in Victoria Anne spent many hours babysitting her grandson Patrick and then watching him participate in his activities during his school years. Anne also enjoyed frequent trips to spend time with her daughter Nancy in Omaha and Chicago and they traveled many places with a highlight being Ireland. They were great friends and Anne missed her deeply when Nancy passed away in 2011. The family would like to thank the staffs of New Perspective, Ridgeview Medical Center, and Ridgeview Hospice for their care and compassion. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Thursday April 6, with visitation 90 minutes prior at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church
